With bluetooth you can route phone calls from your cell phone right thru the car’s audio system. It is kind of helpful but really nothing amazing. You also might be able to transfer maps/routes, not sure though. It’s a new feature but it’s nothing I’d spend the extra money on.

Rapid technological advances in electronics, computers, software applications, and the aerospace industry have dramatically reduced the cost and increased the availability of remote sensing technologies.;Remote sensing imagery vary in spectral, spatial, and temporal resolutions and are available from numerous providers. Appendix A presented results of a test project that acquired high-resolution aerial photography with a RPV to map the boundary of a 0.42 km2 fire area. The project mapped the boundaries of the fire area from a mosaic of the aerial images collected and compared this with ground-based measurements. The project achieved a 92.4% correlation between the aerial assessment and the ground truth data.;Appendix B used multi-objective analysis to quantitatively assess the tradeoffs between different sensor platform attributes to identify the best overall technology. Experts were surveyed to identify the best overall technology at three different pixel sizes.;Appendix C evaluated the positional accuracy of a relatively low cost UAV designed for high resolution remote sensing of small areas in order to determine the positional accuracy of sensor readings. The study evaluated the accuracy and uncertainty of a UAV flight route with respect to the programmed waypoints and of the UAV’s GPS position, respectively. Rapid technological advances in electronics, computers, software applications, and the aerospace industry have dramatically reduced the cost and increased the availability of remote sensing technologies.;Remote sensing imagery vary in spectral, spatial, and temporal resolutions and are available from numerous providers. Appendix A presented results of a test project that acquired high-resolution aerial photography with a RPV to map the boundary of a 0.42 km2 fire area. The project mapped the boundaries of the fire area from a mosaic of the aerial images collected and compared this with ground-based measurements. The project achieved a 92.4% correlation between the aerial assessment and the ground truth data.;Appendix B used multi-objective analysis to quantitatively assess the tradeoffs between different sensor platform attributes to identify the best overall technology. In this paper, existing GPS and Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) flight data is fused with the use of both an Kalman filter (KF) and Extended Kalman filter (EKF) methods for a more accurate estimate of the aircraft attitude, velocity, and position eliminating the need for the high cost attitude sensors. A simulation study shows that four sensor fusion methods verifying that an improvement of position, velocity, and attitude can be achieved using low-cost sensors. The first method incorporates a six state KF that corrects INS/GPS position and velocity errors. The second method features the GPS to estimate attitude parameters, which in turn uses in an EKF to correct INS attitude values. With this method, improved attitude values are obtained without the calculation of the full INS state; such that the INS position and velocity are not required, reducing the computational load. The third method uses only the GPS and INS position and velocity to correct for the errors in the full state of the INS also using an EKF. Finally, the last method combines the GPS attitude of the second method and the error reduction of the third method to further decrease the error in the velocity, position, and attitude of the system. The simulation results illustrate that all of the methods tested provide performance improvement to the system, and could be implemented in real-time on a UAV for accurate navigation parameters. |

A method of integration based on Extended Kalman Filter (EKF) between GPS/INS and Machine Vision system is also developed with the goal of reducing the tracking error in the ‘pre-contact’ to contact and refueling phases.;In the second section of the thesis the issue of Collision Identification (CI) is addressed. A proposed solution consists on the use of Optical Flow (OF) algorithms for the detection of possible collisions in the range of vision of a single camera. The effort includes a study of the performance of different Optical Flow algorithms in different scenarios as well as a method to compute the ideal optical flow with the aim of evaluating the algorithms. An analysis on the suitability for a future real time implementation is also performed for all the analyzed algorithms.;Results of the tests show that the Machine Vision technology can be used to improve the performance in the Aerial Refueling problem. In the Collision Identification problem, the Machine Vision has to be integrated with standard sensors in order to be used inside the Flight Control System. |
